Frequently Asked Questions

How can a machine create "worship" music? Isn't worship a human act?

That's a foundational question. You are right—true worship is an outpouring of the human heart. An AI cannot have faith or worship in a spiritual sense. Our project operates on a core belief: "if humanity is created in the image of a creative God, then our own creations can also be used to give Him glory". We see AI as a powerful tool to achieve our mission to "Glorify God by harnessing AI to compose, produce, and share worship music". The human heart and spiritual discernment are essential; we guide the technology to create an offering of music designed to help people express their own worship. Our vision is to "pioneer a Spirit-led, tech-infused worship movement where human-AI collaboration continually expands the Church's songbook".

How do you ensure the lyrics are biblically sound and theologically robust?

This is our highest priority, guided by our first operating principle: "Theology First – Every lyric and visual is anchored in Scripture". To ensure this, every song goes through a strict review process. After AI generates initial lyrics, the song enters a "Lyric Polish" stage. In this stage, I conduct a "Theology & singability review" using a song rubric. Furthermore, our final quality checklist before any song is published includes a check for a "Clear Scripture anchor & theological coherence". A song simply does not move forward if it fails to meet this standard.

What does the "human-AI collaboration" actually look like in your process?

Our process is a true partnership between human creators and AI assistants, guided by our principle of "Iterative Collaboration – Humans guide, review, and refine AI output at each step". Our workflow (v2025-06-27) is a clear example of this partnership: • Ideation: A human creative director guides an AI called Spirit Spark (Gemini) to draft initial lyrics and production prompts. • Lyric Polish: The lyrics are then reviewed and finalized by a human, John, to ensure theological and artistic quality. • Production & Video: The final lyrics are sent to AI music generator Suno to create the audio, and an AI tool called Vizzy.io creates the lyric video. • Artwork & Publishing: AI generates cover art, and a human oversees the final publishing to YouTube and distribution to streaming platforms. The human sets the vision and makes the critical creative and spiritual decisions, while the AI acts as a powerful tool to bring that vision to life.

What inspired the central theme of "all of creation worshipping the Creator"?

This theme is the soul of our project. The inspiration comes from Scripture, like Psalm 150:6 which says, "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!". We asked ourselves: in this digital age, what does "everything" include? Our central theme—"all of creation—from the cosmos to the code—worshiping the Creator"—is our answer. It's our way of exploring our guiding ethos: "if humanity is created in the image of a creative God, then our own creations can also be used to give Him glory". We see this project as a bridge between faith and technology, using the language of our time to compose a new song for the Creator.

How do you handle copyright and licensing for your music?

We are committed to our "Ethical AI" operating principle, which includes respecting copyright and using properly licensed models. We provide clear attribution for the tools we use, including Gemini and Suno, in our video descriptions. All scripture quotations used in our project are also noted with their translation, such as ESV. Our goal is to model a responsible and transparent way of co-writing with generative AI.

What's next for the Worship by AI project?

While we are always exploring new ideas, our current focus is on fulfilling the ambitious release cadence outlined in our project guide. Our goal is to produce and distribute a new 10-track album every 10 days. This rapid cycle of creation, production, and distribution is our primary mission as we continue to expand the Church's songbook with new, AI-collaborative worship music.
